About our air conditioning servicing in Nuffield
Servicing does not mean topping up refrigerant. Refrigerant runs in a sealed circuit and shouldn’t need adding to. Where the checks suggest gas has been lost, the right step is to find the leak, and we will set out how. Common call-outs are for a service that’s overdue and a musty or damp smell when the unit starts, across ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and ducted systems.
Several units at a home near Nuffield can be serviced in one visit, which keeps it simple.
If a fault appears while the equipment is under the manufacturer’s warranty, tell us the make, model and installation date. We’ll explain how the manufacturer’s terms are likely to apply before anything chargeable is done.

- Lost refrigerant, where the fix is a leak repair
- Pipework or drainage that was badly installed in the first place

The process
Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, and electrical work is done by us as NICEIC approved contractors. So on the day, you don’t need a separate electrician for the electrical side. The work takes an hour or two for most homes, and longer where there are several indoor units or a ducted system. For a place like Nuffield, the timing is set with you and the travel is our side of the planning.
- When you book, we ask what make it is, how many rooms it serves and whether anything seems wrong.
- We run the system first and see how it’s performing.
- Filters are cleaned, coils treated and the drain tray and pipe cleared.
- The wiring, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, plus a leak check on systems large enough to need one.
- You get a service record, with anything that needs attention explained.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
- Tell us about parking and loading

Keeping systems in Nuffield running
The Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures show about 30% of homes in the Nuffield area were built in 2000 or later, and the 2021 Census found about 77% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Let us know where the outdoor unit sits and whether a ladder is needed to reach it. On the National Heritage List, around 3 entries fall within 0.5 miles of the middle of Nuffield; Church of the Holy Trinity (grade II*) is one. If a repair turns into a replacement on a listed building or in a conservation area, we check the planning position before changing the outdoor unit.
If you can’t remember the last service, it’s probably due.

Signs you need air conditioning servicing in Nuffield
Each indoor unit makes water when it cools, and that water needs a clear route out. Sludge and debris can block the tray, the pipe or the pump and the result is drips from the indoor unit.
If any of these sounds familiar, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- No service record for the last year or more
- Frost or ice on the refrigerant pipes
- A system that struggles to cool on warm days
Water dripping from the indoor unit often traces back to a drain that needs clearing.

Before you call an engineer
Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. Ask us to quote for a move instead.
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
Questions from Nuffield
How often do you service systems in Nuffield?
Once a year suits most home systems. Larger systems holding 5 tonnes CO2 equivalent or more also need a leak check at least every 12 months under the F-gas rules.
Will you come out to Nuffield?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.
Will you regas my air conditioning on a service?
Not as a routine part of the service. If a system has lost refrigerant, it has leaked from somewhere. We check the refrigerant performance, and if we suspect a leak we explain how it can be found and repaired.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. We always look before we price, either on a site survey or from photos and details for simple jobs. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
Which brands do you work with?
We work with the leading brands, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.
How soon will you get back to me?
We reply to enquiries the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, typically whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
A customer’s words
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
