Air conditioning servicing in Appledore
Servicing is also a chance to spot faults early. We listen to the fans, look at the pipework and insulation, test the controls and check the electrical connections are sound, and tells you about anything that looks like it’s heading for trouble. We are often asked to deal with warning lights on the indoor unit and systems that haven’t been serviced for a while, on air-to-air heat pumps, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems.
Most systems around Appledore need servicing once a year, ideally in spring before the warm weather.
Think of the paperwork as the system’s health record: a dated account of the work and the readings we took. If anything goes wrong later, it helps the next engineer and the manufacturer, so keep it safe.

FAQs for Appledore
Is Appledore in your area for air conditioning servicing?
Yes. Appledore is one of the places we cover. Just phone us on 07833 053749 or send an email with a few details.
Will you come out to Appledore?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, usually whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. You get a written record of every visit, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
How much does an air conditioning service cost?
Our annual service costs £95–£150 + VAT. More complex systems are priced on their details and we confirm the cost in advance.
How often should air conditioning be serviced?
Most systems are best serviced yearly. Some also need F-gas leak checks every 12 or 6 months, depending on their size and refrigerant and we check which applies to yours.
The process
You do not need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and we take it from there. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Appledore so we arrive with what’s needed.
- We ask about the system: the make, the number of indoor units and any problems you’ve noticed.
- The system is run and checked before anything is opened up.
- We clean the filters and coils and make sure the condensate drains away.
- Electrical connections, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, with an F-gas leak check where the system requires one.
- You get a service record, with anything that needs attention explained.
Preparing for the visit
- Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
- Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in

Let and managed properties
Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so work at different addresses can be planned together and kept to a regular schedule.
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Every visit is written up, with F-Gas records wherever refrigerant work is involved, so you can show what was done and when.
Aftercare tips
How well a system lasts depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Keep the drain outlet clear
- Know your manufacturer’s servicing conditions
- Hold on to every service report
A maintenance contract takes the scheduling off your hands. The visits and the price are fixed with your quote, and we get in touch when the next one is due.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Leaves, garden waste, bins and climbing plants all restrict the airflow and should be moved away.
How we price air conditioning servicing
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
- Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
- How many units are involved
Putting the work off seldom saves money. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a struggling system uses more electricity to do less. If you are unsure, ring us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a fixed price.
What we need to know
Simple jobs can often be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- Your installation or service records
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.
What a service looks like in Appledore
About 81% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Tell us where your outdoor unit is and how to reach it, so we can plan the visit. The middle of Appledore is part of a conservation area. About 26 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Appledore, Church of St Peter and St Paul (grade I) among them. That only matters for replacements, where a new outdoor unit on a protected building can need consent.
Most homes book one service a year; busy offices and shops may want more. Clean filters and coils help a system cool better and use less electricity.
