Air conditioning repair in Hale and nearby

Air conditioning repair for homes and businesses in Hale

Our emergency line runs 24/7 for urgent breakdowns, from an overheating comms room to water leaking from a unit. Ring 07833 053749 with the make, what’s happening and any code and we’ll talk you through what happens next. The work covers ducted systems, wall-mounted split systems and heat pumps, and common reasons people get in touch are a noisy indoor or outdoor unit and ice on the pipework or the coil.

Outdoor units in a place like Hale can be near hedges and fields, and a coil clogged with leaves or seeds is a common cause of weak cooling.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Hale: your questions answered

Is Hale in your area for air conditioning repair?

We do: Hale falls inside our working area. To start, call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few photos.

Is Hale within the area you cover?

Yes. Hale is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

My air con is showing an error code. What should I do?

The code is the system’s own clue to the fault, but it is not the whole answer. Note the code and switch the system off if it isn’t working, and call 07833 053749.

Why is water dripping from my indoor unit?

Most leaks come from a blocked drain, a failed pump or a unit that has dropped out of level. Ice that forms on the coil and melts can cause drips too. Turn it off and phone 07833 053749.

My system uses R410A. Can it still be repaired?

Yes. Any leak is repaired before recharging, and the work is recorded, and we tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it on an older system.

Do you protect the property while you work?

We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.

What a repair looks like in Hale

Draw a one-mile circle round the middle of Hale and it takes in 2 conservation areas. Historic England lists about 10 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Hale, including Weybourne House (grade II*). Swapping an outdoor unit on a listed building or in a conservation area may need consent, so we will flag it if a replacement is needed. About 42% of homes in the Hale area date from 1945 to 1972, according to VOA council tax data, and the last census (2021) found about 71% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Wall bracket, ground pad or flat roof: knowing where the outdoor unit is saves time on the day.

Schools such as Farnham Heath End School can report a fault on the 24/7 line and have non-urgent work done out of term. The make, model and error code are the most useful things to tell us.

Aftercare tips

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Check the settings and the remote’s batteries first
  • If there’s ice on the pipes, switch off and let it melt
  • Leave space around the outdoor unit

You get a note of the fault and what we did: the cause, the parts fitted and any refrigerant added or recovered. Refrigerant work goes into the F-Gas records, so keep the note with the system’s paperwork.

Keep the outdoor unit clear. Anything blocking the outdoor unit makes the whole system strain, and debris can get into the fan.

The process

Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. All we ask is clear access to the units, or to where they’ll go, and to the consumer unit. The visit takes a single visit for many faults, while some repairs need a second visit once parts arrive. Photos of the existing unit help with repairs and servicing in Hale.

  1. Diagnose: test the system until the cause is clear.
  2. Next, a plain explanation and a fixed price.
  3. If the repair is not worth doing, we say so and explain the options.
  4. The treatment: the repair itself, with any leak found and fixed before recharging.
  5. Sign off: prove it works and record the visit.

How to prepare

  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process

Different systems, different jobs

Multi-split systems

With several pipe runs, finding a leak on a multi-split takes method. Each run is checked, then repair, pressure test and recharge.

Wall-mounted split systems

On a wall-mounted split, the indoor and outdoor units talk to each other through a control cable. Communication faults show up as error codes and testing finds whether it’s the cable, a board or a connection.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

A customer’s words

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
