About air conditioning in CM8
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. We recommend a model on the survey and explain why it suits the room, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, multi-split systems and ducted systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer.
The first job on site is protection: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work and nothing is moved without asking you. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system, and we tidy up before we leave.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- Each room is sized and you get a fixed-price quote setting out the equipment and the unit positions.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
Pricing in CM8
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before any work starts.

Getting a price
Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because every property is different. After a look at the job, by pictures or a survey, the price is fixed. To get going, ring us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.
Near you in Witham
In Witham, that means homes and buildings near Powers Hall Academy, The Crown Inn and Whet Mead, among other places. Also close by are Maltings Academy (under half a mile south-west) and Witham United Reformed Church (less than half a mile south-east). Witham has its own railway station: Witham station. Well-known places in the area include Cressing Temple (2.7 miles north-west). For a walk, there’s Shut Heath Wood.
Where we install in CM8
In CM8, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
CM8 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote.
Witham: Plenty of people near Witham station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit. If your home is in one of the older streets near Witham United Reformed Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.
When something else is needed
Air conditioning can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It does not solve:
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
- Building damp that has a structural cause
What affects the quote in CM8
Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- The brand, model and parts involved
- Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
- What electrical work the job needs
- What we find on the survey or diagnosis
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we will explain what it covers.
What to send for a quote
Photos and a few facts are often enough to price a simple job. Send what you can of the following:
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
Every quote starts with a look at the job, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from photos and measurements. After that, we send a fixed price so you know the cost before we begin.
Keeping the system healthy
Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest
- Never run the system with the filters out
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, following the manual, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Use sensible settings. A moderate set temperature cools the room just as well as the lowest one, without the waste and keep doors and windows shut while it runs.
Different systems, different jobs
Ducted systems
With a ducted system, the indoor unit sits out of sight above the ceiling, and all you see is a discreet grille. It suits rooms where a visible unit wouldn’t work.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
For bigger buildings, VRF systems link many indoor units to shared outdoor plant. Commercial and VRF systems are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.
CM8 questions
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
Typically, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.
How soon will you get back to me?
On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Will you make a mess?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and we tidy up as we go. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
We work with the leading brands, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
It can, for some brands. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we’ll explain them, and book the service at the interval they recommend.
