Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Where a tenant occupies the property but the landlord owns the system, it’s worth checking the agreement for who looks after the system. We can quote either party and send the records to whoever needs them.

Whether it’s one property or many, the approach is the same: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.

Air source heat pumps in Wildridings

An air-to-water heat pump costs £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before the grant. In England and Wales, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers a £7,500 grant towards an eligible air-to-water installation and the installer makes the application. Not every home qualifies, so we check eligibility before you commit. If the problem is checking whether planning permission is needed and deciding which kind of heat pump suits the home, we can help.

Older homes around Wildridings can be draughty or have solid walls, so a proper heat loss calculation matters. Sometimes insulation first is the better investment.

Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order and each visit is recorded.

Wildridings: your questions answered

Do I need planning permission for a heat pump in Wildridings?

It depends on the property. Central Wildridings is a short walk from the Rectory Lane Easthampstead Conservation Area. A heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets the conditions, including the MCS noise check, but not within the grounds of a listed building, and in a conservation area the outdoor unit can’t face a road. Where needed, we check with the planning department at Bracknell Forest council, typically the authority for Wildridings.

Is the heat pump grant available in Wildridings?

Wildridings is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. Whether your home qualifies, and for how much, depends on the type of heat pump and the heating it replaces. As an MCS certified installer, we apply for it on your behalf.

When will I hear back?

You will hear from us the same working day. For a breakdown that cannot wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.

Will my radiators work with a heat pump?

We find out during the survey. Where a radiator is already large enough, it stays, and any that need upsizing are set out in the quote.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.

Heat pumps in Wildridings: local notes

About 39% of homes in the Wildridings area have been built since 2000, according to VOA council tax data, and the 2021 Census found about 45% of households live in flats. Newer homes typically lose less heat, which tends to suit a heat pump well. In flats, space for an outdoor unit and a cylinder can be limited, and the lease and freeholder come into it, so air-to-air is sometimes the better fit.

Homeowners near Bracknell station often ask whether a heat pump can take over from the boiler, and the heat loss survey answers that. If your home is one of the older properties near St Michael and St Mary Magdalene's Church, the survey checks whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before the outdoor unit position is chosen.

Looking after it afterwards

Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:

  • Avoid switching the heat pump on and off often
  • Book a yearly service
  • Check eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme early

After commissioning, the installation is registered under MCS and you receive the certificate. Keep it with the manufacturer’s paperwork for future reference.

Have the system serviced regularly. Your manufacturer’s warranty terms may say something about servicing.

How the visit works

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. The visit takes anything from a couple of days for air-to-air to the best part of a week for air-to-water with radiator changes. Tell us about any gates or steps at your property near Wildridings when you book.

  1. We start with your plans and the property.
  2. We survey for heat loss and look at radiators, cylinder space and outdoor unit options.
  3. We explain which type of heat pump suits the home and whether a grant could apply.
  4. We install the heat pump and connect it up.
  5. We commission it, complete the MCS certificate and show you how to use it.

How to prepare

  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them

Get a fixed-price quote

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Advice

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Write down what you notice: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.

Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

From one of our customers

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
