About our air source heat pumps in Warningcamp
As an MCS certified installer, we fit air source heat pumps for homes in Warningcamp and the rest of West Sussex. Air-to-water systems feed your radiators or underfloor heating and hot water cylinder, while air-to-air systems heat rooms directly through indoor units and can cool them too. We will explain which type fits your home and why. The work covers air-to-water heat pumps, radiator systems and air-to-air heat pumps, and people most often call us about planning and permitted development questions and checking emitters for a heat pump.
Older and listed homes in villages like Warningcamp need extra care, and permitted development doesn’t cover listed buildings, so consent comes first.
Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

Heat pumps in Warningcamp: local notes
Valuation Office Agency council tax records put about 36% of homes across Warningcamp and its surrounding area before 1919. Period properties can still suit a heat pump, but the design has to start from accurate heat loss figures.
A heat loss calculation decides the size of heat pump your home needs.

How it works
The first job on site is protection: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work, and we ask before moving anything. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes, and we clear up before we go. A note on how to find the property and where to park makes a visit to Warningcamp easier.
- We find out about your home and the heating you have now.
- Every room’s heat loss is worked out on site.
- From those figures we size the heat pump and decide on radiators, cylinder and outdoor position.
- Cost, grant and VAT appear on one fixed-price quote.
- We install, commission and register the system under MCS.
Getting ready for the visit
- Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
- Keep pets and children away from the work area
- Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
How to get a quote
VAT is set out clearly on every quote, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it on the quote. To get one, call us on 07833 053749.
Advice
Common questions in Warningcamp
Do you cover smaller places like Warningcamp?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.
Is a heat pump in Warningcamp permitted development?
It depends on the property. The half-mile around the middle of Warningcamp holds about 12 listed buildings and structures. On a house, an air source heat pump can often go ahead under permitted development, with an outdoor unit of no more than 1.5 cubic metres and an installation that meets MCS 020(a), which includes a noise check. Those rights don’t reach the grounds of a listed building, and conservation areas rule out walls or roofs facing a road. If that might affect you, we ask the local planning authority (for Warningcamp, usually Arun council).
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It means the refrigerant in your system is handled legally.
What accreditations do you have?
We are an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.
Is there VAT on a heat pump?
Not on a home installation at the moment: HMRC zero-rates heat pumps installed in residential accommodation until 31 March 2027, and 5% applies after that. Businesses and hotels pay the standard rate, and for air-to-air systems we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice.
What does an air-to-water heat pump cost?
Air-to-water installations cost £8,000–£16,000 (0% VAT on homes), before the grant. Air-to-air prices are set after a survey, and we confirm the VAT on the quote.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, usually whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
When to call us in Warningcamp
Some homes heated by electric heaters or storage heaters consider a heat pump instead. The survey tells you whether it’s practical and what’s involved along with whether any grant could apply.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Working out whether radiators need upsizing
- Choosing between air-to-water and air-to-air
- Plans to switch to electric heating with a heat pump
If your home is listed, like Ecclesden Manor about 2.8 miles south-east, listed building consent comes before any heat pump work.
Before you book anyone
- Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
- Whether the electrical work is done by a registered contractor, such as NICEIC approved
- Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
Owners can handle the everyday basics: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
A customer’s words
“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
