Air source heat pumps for homes and businesses in Fairseat
We install air source heat pumps in Fairseat and across Kent, and we’re MCS certified. Air-to-water systems feed your radiators or underfloor heating and hot water cylinder, while air-to-air systems heat rooms directly through indoor units and can cool them too. We help you work out which suits your home. The work covers underfloor heating, homes heated by oil, LPG or gas and radiator systems, and common reasons people get in touch are working out whether radiators need upsizing and working out where a cylinder could go.
If your home in or near Fairseat is heated by oil, LPG or electric heaters with no mains gas, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme adds an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for an air source or ground source heat pump.
Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight, and every service is written up.

How the job changes from property to property
Heat loss surveys
The survey works out the heat needed room by room. It’s the basis for sizing the heat pump and the radiators.
Air-to-air heat pumps
The £2,500 grant for air-to-air applies only when the system replaces the fossil-fuel heating and covers the whole home’s demand. It also has to be fitted by an MCS certified installer, in a home.
Before you call an engineer
Owners can handle the everyday basics: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

Fairseat: your questions answered
Is Fairseat within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Is the heat pump grant available in Fairseat?
Fairseat is covered, as the scheme runs across England and Wales. The grant is £7,500 for an air source (air-to-water) heat pump and £2,500 for an air-to-air system that replaces the existing fossil-fuel heating. As an MCS certified installer, we apply for it on your behalf.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Should I choose air-to-water or air-to-air?
The right choice depends on the property and what you need. Air-to-water can attract a £7,500 grant where eligible; air-to-air only qualifies for £2,500 under strict conditions. We explain the options after the survey.
Do you protect the property while you work?
We start with protection: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Will skipping a service affect the warranty?
That depends on the brand. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim and we will tell you what your brand asks for.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us in Fairseat and across Kent. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.
What we do, step by step
Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. The visit takes from a couple of days to around a week, depending on the system and how much of the heating changes. If a lane or gateway near Fairseat is tight for a van, let us know and we will plan for it.
- First we find out about the property, the heating you have now and what you are hoping for.
- On the visit we calculate what every room loses on a cold day, then check the radiators, room for a cylinder and outdoor unit options.
- You get a fixed-price quote, with any grant you are eligible for and the VAT explained.
- Installation covers the outdoor unit, the indoor connections and the controls.
- The system is commissioned and registered under MCS, and we show you how to use it.
Before we arrive
- Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
- Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
- Clear access to the fuse board

Advice
Air source heat pumps around Fairseat
Central Fairseat is inside the Fairseat Conservation Area. Draw a one-mile circle round the middle of Fairseat and it takes in 2 conservation areas. Where a home is affected, the outdoor unit position is settled with the local planning authority (usually Tonbridge and Malling council) before the heat pump design is finished. VOA council tax data date about 45% of homes in the Fairseat area to the post-war years, 1945 to 1972, and about 66% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. For homes of that age, the survey checks the insulation, the radiators and the hot water setup. Finding room for the outdoor unit and a cylinder is seldom a problem in homes like these.
Historic houses such as Old Soar Manor, about 4.5 miles south, are a reminder that listed homes need consent before a heat pump goes in. Live in one of the older houses around Holy Innocents? Expect the survey to look closely at heat loss and at the building’s planning status.

Looking after your system
Aftercare is straightforward, and it helps at the next service:
- Store the MCS certificate and warranty documents together
- Ask about the grant before you commit
- Keep radiators clear
If you were eligible for a grant, we handle the application and keep you updated since the grant goes through the installer.
Don’t cover radiators with furniture or heavy curtains, as the system relies on them giving out heat.
A customer’s words
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
