Need air conditioning in Virley?

Owner checks or an engineer?

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and give us a ring on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

Air conditioning in Virley

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. A lot of the calls we get from Virley are about one room that’s too hot to sleep or work in. That’s usually a single wall-mounted split, from £1,200 + VAT.

In a village like Virley, many homes are older, and some are listed. We check that first, because permitted development does not apply within the grounds of a listed building, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.

Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

When something else is needed

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we do not work on gas boilers)

If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 07833 053749 and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on in Virley

  • Multi-split systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • VRF systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ducted systems

The process

Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. A few photos help us make the most of a visit to Virley.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
  4. Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

How to prepare

  • Find the manual or the paperwork for the system, if you have it
  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
  • Keep pets and children away from the work area

Getting a price

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Air conditioning in Virley: local notes

At about 3 miles from the coast, Virley is close enough for sea air to matter. Some manufacturers offer anti-corrosion coated coils for coastal sites, and we will tell you if the model you choose has that option. Church of St Mary, listed at grade II*, is one of roughly 11 protected buildings and structures in the half-mile around Virley’s centre. None of this rules air conditioning out. It just means the planning position is checked before anyone suggests a spot for the outdoor unit. The last census (2021) found about 83% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St Mary, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. About 3.1 miles north-west stands Layer Marney Tower. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.

Virley questions

Is Virley within the area you cover?

Yes. Virley is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Does being near the sea make a difference to air conditioning in Virley?

It can. Virley is within about 3 miles of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. We site outdoor units out of the worst of the sea wind where possible and can suggest models with corrosion protection where the manufacturer offers it.

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. Homeowners, landlords, agents and businesses all book us across London and the South East. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, typically whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

Are you F-Gas certified?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are also Checkatrade members.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

The law says any company working on equipment containing F gas has to be certified, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.

What happens if it’s left?

The best time to plan air conditioning is before the hot weather, not during it. A rushed choice is often the wrong size or in the wrong place, which is costly to undo. A survey now gives time to choose properly. A system that’s left with a fault, or without a service, normally costs more to run.

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Call for a fixed-price quote and we’ll explain each part.
