Air conditioning in Surrex

Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Surrex

Air conditioning is not only for summer: most modern splits heat too. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. Most split systems we fit in Surrex are reversible: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.

Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Surrex. More often it’s the walls, the electrics and the length of the pipe run that need thinking about.

Looking after a system is mostly common sense: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. It also keeps you on the right side of any warranty terms that ask for servicing.

System by system

Pipework and condensate drains

The indoor and outdoor units are joined by insulated refrigerant pipes, a cable and a condensate drain. We agree the route with you before we drill and kept as tidy as the building allows.

Multi-split systems

Indoor units on a multi-split don’t all have to look the same: a wall unit in one room, a ducted or floor unit in another, depending on the model. The survey settles which units go where.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:

  • Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
  • Leave space around the outdoor unit
  • Close windows and doors while the system is cooling

If anything is not right after we’ve gone, call us on the same number. Let us know what’s happening and any error code, and we will talk it through with you.

Use sensible settings. A moderate set temperature cools the room just as well as the lowest one, without the waste, and close windows and doors while it’s cooling.

How it works

We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. When we arrive, we check the job against the survey or the photos you sent. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Surrex so we arrive with what’s needed.

  1. First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where necessary.
  4. Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Before we arrive

  • Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in

Ask for a quote

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Advice

Pricing air conditioning in Surrex

The diagnosis comes before the price. We look at:

  • Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract
  • The pipe route between the units
  • How easy the units are to reach

Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What we need to know

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you get in touch, it helps to send:

  • A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light

Need a price for air conditioning? Please call us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form with a few details about the property. We will talk you through the options and give you a fixed-price quote before you commit to anything.

Surrex questions

Do you cover Surrex for air conditioning?

Yes, Surrex is within the area we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

How do I get a quote for air conditioning in Surrex?

Start with a short message: the address, what you need and a picture or two. Where photos aren’t enough, a survey comes first and the fixed-price quote follows.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

It takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.

Can I do the refrigerant work myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s a legal requirement, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Do I get paperwork after the visit?

Yes, on every job. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, and repairs and services get a record of the work.

Air conditioning around Surrex

About 43 miles out from central London, Surrex is part of the South East area we work across. Census 2021 figures found about 73% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

If your home is in one of the older streets near St Peter ad Vincula, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. Layer Marney Tower, about 5 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.

Surrex is about 6 miles south-east of Halstead, in Essex. Anywhere in CO6, we can help with air conditioning. Our list for Essex has 644 entries, and Surrex is one. For properties nearby, see our London page, about 43 miles away.

Our engineers cover all of CO6 for air conditioning and the streets around it. From Old Road and Colchester Road to the smaller roads in between, nowhere is left out. Other places close to Surrex include Skye Green (1 mile south-east), Broad Green (1 mile east), Stocks Green (1 mile south), Little Tey (1 mile east) and Feering (2 miles south). Within a short drive, we also cover Colchester (8 miles east), Chelmsford (14 miles south-west), Braintree (7 miles west) and Maldon (10 miles south).

From one of our customers

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
