Air conditioning in Patching: the local picture

The Patching Conservation Area lies close to the centre of Patching, within about a third of a mile. Draw a one-mile circle round the middle of Patching and it takes in 2 conservation areas. Historic England lists about 22 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of Patching, including The Parish Church of St John the Divine (grade I). Before any outdoor unit is fixed here, we find out whether the building is protected. Where it is, the local planning authority (typically Arun council) has the final say on what’s allowed. About 68% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

About 1.5 miles south-west stands Ecclesden Manor. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Homes near The Parish Church of St John the Divine are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Patching

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. Need an air conditioning installer for Patching? AirCon Doctor works across London and the South East from East Grinstead, with a fixed-price quote before any work starts.

Sizing is where cheap installs go wrong: the survey covers room size, glazing, insulation and how the room is used, so the unit isn’t too big or too small.

Around Patching, many people choose a system that heats as well as cools, which suits garden rooms, lofts and extensions that the main heating struggles with.

Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

Safe owner checks

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and phone 07833 053749 or drop us a line.

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

How we price air conditioning

Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:

  • What we find on the survey or diagnosis
  • How easy the units are to reach
  • Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

What we need to know

Good pictures often save a visit. The most useful are:

  • A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
  • Any previous service or F-Gas records
  • The make and model of the system, from the label

Need a price for air conditioning? Please ring us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and tell us about the job. We will talk you through the options and give you a fixed-price quote before anything is booked.

What we do, step by step

The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your photos or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. A few photos help us make the most of a visit to Patching.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

Preparing for the visit

  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time

How to get a quote

Quotes do not take long. Call or email with a few details and we’ll come back to you the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.

FAQs for Patching

Will you come out to Patching?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Is Patching in your area for air conditioning?

We do: Patching falls inside our working area. Just give us a ring on 07833 053749 or drop us a line with a few details.

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. It’s worth checking before you book, and we’re happy to show ours.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy, so we explain why we’ve chosen a particular output.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes, always. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, and repairs and services get a record of the work.

Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?

In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.

After we’ve gone

Once we’ve finished, these simple steps help:

  • Keep the room closed while it runs
  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
  • Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use

The handover includes the records you need: F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty terms. Keep them with the manual as they’re needed for servicing and any warranty question.

Book an annual service. A service cleans what you cannot reach and picks up faults before they stop the system, and it keeps any warranty servicing conditions in order.

From one of our customers

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
