Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Lower Green

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. Looking for air con installers near Lower Green? We’re based in East Grinstead and cover London and the South East, with a fixed-price quote before any work starts.

Planning permission isn’t typically needed for a house if the unit qualifies as permitted development, but listed buildings, conservation areas and flats often need consent first: we tell you at the survey if it applies.

Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Lower Green. More often it’s the walls, the electrics and the length of the pipe run that need thinking about.

For a fault on a system that may still be under warranty, send us the make, model and installation date. We’ll tell you how the manufacturer’s warranty is likely to apply before any chargeable work goes ahead.

Lower Green questions

Do you cover Lower Green for air conditioning?

We do: Lower Green falls inside our working area. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Is air conditioning in Lower Green permitted development?

That depends on the building and where the outdoor unit goes. The half-mile around the middle of Lower Green holds about 13 listed buildings and structures. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to the local planning authority (for Lower Green, typically Uttlesford council) when it matters.

Will skipping a service affect the warranty?

For some brands, yes. Send us the make and model and we will tell you what the manufacturer expects, and book the service at the interval they recommend.

Are you F-Gas certified?

F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.

How long will the installation take?

Allow about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and F-Gas documentation included. You get a fixed price before any work starts.

What air conditioning won’t do

Air conditioning cannot fix everything, and we’ll tell you before we start. It won’t put right:

  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
  • A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
  • Central heating repairs

If you’re not sure, just ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What the work covers

  • Ducted systems
  • VRF systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Multi-split systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • Air-to-air heat pumps

What the work involves, system by system

Multi-split systems

A multi-split runs several indoor units from one outdoor unit. It’s a neat answer when space outside is limited and several rooms need it and each indoor unit has its own controls.

Pipework and condensate drains

We pressure test and evacuate the pipework before the system is charged, so the system starts life clean, dry and leak-tight. It’s recorded in the commissioning details.

How it works

The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then we do the work, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, and that takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Lower Green so we arrive with what’s needed.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
  3. We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

Before we arrive

  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
  • Let us know where we can park and unload
  • Clear access to the fuse board

Getting a price

Here’s what helps us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, photos of the rooms or units, the brand and model of anything already fitted and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

Air conditioning around Lower Green

The last census (2021) found about 81% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Detached and semi-detached houses usually have space for the outdoor unit, and several rooms can share one on a multi-split.

Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed. If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St John the Evangelist, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.
