Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Langford. More often it’s the walls, the electrics and the length of the pipe run that need thinking about.

The records are your system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. If anything goes wrong later, it helps the next engineer and the manufacturer and it’s worth keeping safe.

Leave it or put it right?

Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can typically heat as well, so it earns its keep all year. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.

Typical ranges are on our prices page, but your price depends on the job in front of us. For a fixed-price quote, give us a ring on 07833 053749, and we’ll explain what it covers.

The process

Protection comes first: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. It takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system, and we clear up before we go. Visits to Langford are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
  3. The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
  4. The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand

How to get a quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.

What the work involves, system by system

Ducted systems

One ducted unit can serve more than one room through separate ducts and grilles, and they’re easiest to fit while ceilings are open, such as during a refurbishment.

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. Commercial and VRF systems are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.

Air conditioning in Langford: local notes

The coast is only about 3 miles from Langford. That is worth knowing for an install, as salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor coils and fixings, so we choose the position and fixings with that in mind. Central Langford is inside the Langford Conservation Area. There are 2 conservation areas within a mile of the centre of Langford. About 15 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Langford, Church of St Giles (grade II*) among them. Heritage protection changes what an install can involve, so the survey looks at your address first and tells you plainly whether consent is likely. About 69% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

A loft bedroom or a glazed extension is often the room that prompts the first call. Older streets near Church of St Giles may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.

Langford questions

Does sea air affect air conditioning in Langford?

It can. Langford is within about 3 miles of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. The outdoor unit position, its fixings and regular servicing all help near the sea.

Do you cover smaller places like Langford?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. A fixed-price quote follows.

Do I need planning permission?

Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it normally comes up and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.

How soon will you get back to me?

On the same working day you contact us. Then we agree a date that works for you, with a fixed price before work starts.

Are you F-Gas certified?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Rented and managed buildings

Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. We work across London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we will come back with a fixed-price quote.
