Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Arundel
Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. Most split systems we fit in Arundel are reversible: the Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes called air conditioning, which is why many owners use theirs all year.
In a smaller place like Arundel, most installs are in houses and cottages, often with gardens, so there’s typically space for the outdoor unit. The bigger questions are the wall construction and the route back to the consumer unit.
Any work on the refrigerant circuit is recorded: the work carried out, the refrigerant involved and the quantities. File them with the system’s paperwork, ready for the next service or a warranty query.

The process
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. Everything the job in Arundel needs is worked out beforehand.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
- Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
Getting a quote
VAT is set out clearly on every quote, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it on the quote. To get one, ring us on 07833 053749 or email us.
Related advice
Owner checks or an engineer?
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.
Common questions in Arundel
Will you come out to Arundel?
Yes. Arundel is within the area we cover across London and the South East. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.
Can I fit air conditioning in Arundel without planning permission?
The answer turns on the property and where the outdoor unit would sit. The Arundel Conservation Area is close to the centre of Arundel. Put simply: reversible systems on houses can be permitted development, cooling-only ones cannot, listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit outdoor units facing a road. When your property needs a decision, we contact the planning department at Arun council, typically the authority for Arundel.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
Can air conditioning heat my home as well?
In most cases, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
Not the refrigerant work. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
Allow a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.
System by system
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Offices and shops typically need several units and sensible central controls. We size for the people, equipment and glazing in the space, and plan the work so the business keeps running.
Wall-mounted split systems
For one room, a wall-mounted split is often the simplest answer. The indoor unit sits high on a wall, the outdoor unit goes outside, and the two are joined by insulated pipework, a cable and a condensate drain, with the route agreed on the survey.
Honest limits
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we’ll say what we think before booking.

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
