- A suspected refrigerant leak
How the job changes from property to property
Multi-split systems
With several pipe runs, finding a leak on a multi-split takes method. Each run is checked, then repair, pressure test and recharge.
Refrigerant leaks
Topping up without finding the leak only delays the next breakdown and the gas simply leaks out again. That’s why we repair the leak first.
How we handle air conditioning repair in White Colne
Diagnosis call-outs start from £75 + VAT. When the cause is found, the repair is priced before anything else is done and nothing goes ahead without your say-so. Typical jobs include a flashing light and a system that won’t run and new noises from the system, across heat pumps, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems.
Around White Colne, repairs tend to be home systems, garden rooms and a few businesses. Describe the fault and send a photo of the unit’s label so we can plan the visit.
Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. If that applies to your system, booking the service on time keeps the record straight and each visit is recorded.

What a repair looks like in White Colne
About 73% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the 2021 Census. A photo of the outdoor unit and its surroundings tells us what access the visit needs. The Earls Colne and White Colne West and East Conservation Area lies close to the centre of White Colne, within about a third of a mile. Historic England lists about 32 buildings and structures within half a mile of the centre of White Colne, including Colneford House (grade II*). Day-to-day work on an existing system is not affected; a replacement outdoor unit on a protected building might be.
If the display shows a code, write it down: it helps narrow down the fault. When cooling fails at a school like Earls Colne Primary School and Nursery, we can time non-urgent repair work around lessons.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning repair in White Colne
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- Whether we need access equipment for high-level work
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
The cost depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
Before you get in touch
Good photos often save a visit. Try to include:
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it on the quote. To get one, call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
The process
Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first so it does not catch you out. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes as long as the fault needs, from a quick fix to a return visit for parts. Visits to White Colne are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
- Describe the problem and the brand, and mention any code on the display.
- A diagnosis visit finds the cause with proper tests.
- The fault is explained simply and the repair priced up front.
- Once agreed, the repair goes ahead.
- The system is run and checked, and you get a written note of the repair.
How to prepare
- Clear access to the fuse board
- Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
- Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go
Getting a quote
Getting a quote is straightforward. Call or email with a few details and we will come back to you the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.
Advice
FAQs for White Colne
Will you come out to White Colne?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.
Is there an emergency air con repair line for White Colne?
Yes: ring the emergency line, day or night, from anywhere in White Colne. Say what the system is doing and whether it shows a code, and we will advise on the next step.
Will you make a mess?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
What can I do with an old R22 system?
Replacement is usually the better answer. New R22 can’t be used to service systems, and parts for older units are getting harder to find, so we will quote for a modern replacement and explain why.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
My system uses R410A. Can it still be repaired?
Yes, repairs and recharges on existing R410A systems remain legal. As the GB phase-down continues, R410A is getting harder and dearer to buy, so for older systems we compare the cost of a repair with a replacement.
Why is water dripping from my indoor unit?
Normally a blocked or kinked condensate drain, a failed condensate pump or a unit that is not level. Ice that forms on the coil and melts can cause drips too. Switch the unit off and call us on 07833 053749 or email us.
Before you call an engineer
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are normally the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and ring 07833 053749.
From one of our customers
“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
